A Message from Gary Hazard, President
Greater Flemington Members,
I am proud to announce that the GFSC Board has elected to move forward in 2009 and name Anson Smith of SoccerSmith as our new Director of Development. Anson has a wealth of soccer experience and knowledge. Last Fall he led Hunterdon Central’s Varsity Boys' team to an undefeated regular season record, and an amazing run through the state playoffs. Anson will be reporting directly to the Board, and specifically to the Full and Small Sided Directors.
Over a year ago, the GFSC board began discussions of bringing on a full time Director of Development. Our great club has grown rapidly over the past 4 years fielding over 70 Recreation and 30 plus travel teams. We have become one of the largest community clubs in central New Jersey. With this growth, our challenge has been figuring out how to support and develop a high quality and consistent program for our players and coaches. Our answer was to interview and hire a Director of Development.
Director of Development Responsibilities:
-Oversee the growth and activities of GFSC youth players and coaches
-Develop a Club Curriculum containing age appropriate goals and expectations
-Create Codes of Conduct for players and parents
-Develop Winter, Summer Select Programs, College Showcase Teams, and GFSC Camps
-Help make GFSC one of the premier clubs in New Jersey, create a CLUB atmosphere and facilitate an environment where players can thrive.
Anson will soon be meeting with coaches, players, trainers, and parents over the next few months. Please extend him a warm welcome and certainly feel free to provide your input. His email address is soccersmith@live.com.
