A statement by Director of Development, Anson Smith, after three weeks of tryouts said it all, "I see the light ..."
Anson oversaw and, in many cases, ran the tryouts in every age group for GFSC's returning 24 Fall teams. The task was not an easy one as many evaluators did their part each session to impartially score hundreds of boys and girls seeking a roster spot on one of the teams. Anson said that, "Within the next few weeks, coaches will have completed their rosters and notified all candidates of the selection result, based on our recommendations."
GFSC President, Gary Hazard, said that "the Board of Directors strives to provide opportunities for every child in the Community by working with neighboring clubs when practical to find players a home." He added that, "In many cases, the answer is right here, as GFSC also promotes an excellent developmental program; a recreation program that is geared to promote soccer through training and competition at a non-travel level."
GFSC teams will hold a few more tryouts in the coming days. You should check dates, times and locations frequently due to field changes beyond the Club's control. Click here for more information.

S.A.G.E. VIDEO
In the excitement of a game, sometimes we lose sight of why our children participate in sports in the first place: to be with friends and develop in body, mind, and spirit. We see young referees become discouraged and quit when parents or coaches yell at them. We see confusion when children are directed from the parent-side of the field in spite of able coaching from the other side.
S.A.G.E. - Set A Good Example - was developed to bring home the importance of exemplary behavior on the sidelines by parents and coaches. Please take a moment to view the following video sponsored by SAGE.

The Greater Flemington Soccer Club is the largest independent soccer club in Central New Jersey. As a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization, it promotes and fosters the game of soccer to boys and girls ages 5 to 19 primarily residing in Flemington Borough and Raritan Township.
Thank you Board of Education!
Home games on the turf field at Hunterdon Central Regional High School are only possible through the generosity of the Board of Education, the Athletic Director's Office, and all who work so hard to make this happen. Special thanks to John Carbone and Joy Burns for their coordination and efforts.
